SO MANY QUESTIONS; SO MANY STARFISH.

Are we all obligated, or are a few called? Does God expect the few to handle it, or does He desire everyone to partake in it?
Should I hold everyone accountable to do what needs to be done, or am I asking too much?
People are eating dirt due to hunger in Haiti.
5 year-olds are being sold as prostitutes in Cambodia.
2 year-olds are living with full-blown AIDS with no medical attention in Africa.
9 year-olds are being used as child soldiers in Uganda.
Men and Women are being bought and put to work as slaves in India.
Families are losing jobs and being forced to live on the streets of America.

Is it possible that serving these people is exactly what it means to share the good news? Did Jesus have these people in mind when he said “theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”? Is it a hopeless battle? Will it only get worse until the coming of our King? Or is there any fragment of hope that this battle can be won and justice can reign?
For the one starfish that gets thrown back into the ocean, that battle HAS been won.

Jesus said the poor will always be among us and he also told us to feed them; contradictory? or a recognition of God's will (to feed the hungry) along with a recognition that the ultimate state of the kingdom will only be fulfilled in eternity - although Jesus told us to pray and act in a way to bring that kingdom to earth. The fact that the ultimate fulfillment of God's kingdom is in the future does not discount our role in the present of bringing His kingdom to earth which implies feeding the hungry, watering the thirsty, providing financially for the poor, pouring compassion on the widow, caring for the orphan, and, as you said, bringing this good news to the ends of the earth. Way to go Jo Jo.

JoJo, if you're interested, there is a young lady I would like to introduce you to. Her name is Hannah and she is a Godly Christian woman with a heart for ministry. She has witnessed the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa first hand and I really believe she would be able to 'make it real' for anyone who listens to her- be it kids or adults. She's an amazing inspiration...
